The Town of Mountain board voted July 22 to purchase a used 2023 road roller for $60,855 to assist with road patching and post-grading work.
Supervisor O'Barski moved to approve the purchase; Chair Carey-Mielke seconded and the motion carried. The board record notes the machine had 773 hours of use and was presented for purchase during a special meeting at the Town Office.
Earlier in the meeting, Supervisor O'Barski presented a quote from Miller-Bradford for a tractor to be used at the town's recycle center and solid waste site. A Miller-Bradford representative attended to answer questions. A member of the public asked whether the town had contacted other vendors; the board decided to table the tractor purchase to the next meeting to solicit additional bids.
A related proposal to adopt a resolution to borrow funds and levy a tax to finance town equipment was discussed but also tabled to a later meeting so members could review financing details.
The purchase of the roller is recorded as an approved action in the minutes; the board did not record a roll-call tally in the written minutes beyond noting the motion carried. The board indicated the tractor procurement and the borrowing resolution will return to a future agenda for further review and potential formal action.
