Nature Trails crews remove Bear Creek bridge; town says installation will take about six weeks

Commissioner Kenneth Wolff announced that John and Isaac with Nature Trails began work today removing the existing bridge over Bear Creek. Town minutes say crews disassembled and removed the structure and will prepare forms for a concrete pour later in the week. The concrete will be covered while it cures for a few weeks; once cured, the partially assembled bridge will be brought back on site and installation will be finalized. The minutes estimate a total timeline of about six weeks from the start of work.
The town will post signs at the trailhead and at various spots along the trail to warn users that the bridge is out, and officials plan an email blast to Bethania residents. Commissioner Wolff also encouraged the Mayor and other Commissioners to consult directly with Nature Trails employees John and Isaac about future trail recommendations; he said he would like to see the Black Walnut Bottoms Trail updated from the trailhead to the new bridge.
During public comment, resident Niki Calhoun asked Mayor Rockett for an update on the Pulte Homes project after the Mayor meets the town attorney next week. The meeting adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
