Shaw's granted temporary variance from Yarmouth disposable foodware rules through Oct. 31

At its July 6 meeting the Board of Health granted Shaw's a temporary variance from aspects of the Town's disposable foodware regulation through Oct. 31, and required a company representative to return to the board with a progress update.
Brian MacVarish, speaking for Shaw's, said the company had filed a waiver when it submitted its initial application but the Health Department had not received that filing because of the remoteness of corporate offices; he said Shaw's will work with Assistant Health Director Barry Lewis to ensure timely filings moving forward. Mary Craig moved to approve the variances listed on Shaw's application with an expiration date of Oct. 31 and requested that a representative appear at that time to report on compliance; Laurance Venezia seconded. The motion passed with Mary Craig, Scott Brewer and Laurance Venezia voting in favor and Hillard Boskey abstaining.
The board did not specify any additional conditions beyond the return visit and the expiration date.
