Brighton, Mile High Flood District add $600,000 each to Sable Boulevard outfall project; contractor selected

The Brighton City Council on June 16 approved Resolution 2026-54, authorizing the second amendment to the intergovernmental agreement with the Mile High Flood District for Sable Boulevard Outfall Channel Improvements.
Utilities Director Scott Olsen told council the Sable Outfall will convey flow from Sable Boulevard improvements, the Farm/ore Development, and roughly 500 acres of the Prairie Center Development. He said the piped portion under the Fulton Ditch (Phase A) has been completed by Farm/ore under a prior reimbursement agreement and that the city and the district will each contribute an additional $600,000 to complete the current construction phase, bringing each sponsor's total to $1.725 million.
Naranjo Civil Constructors has been selected as the contractor for this phase and staff estimated the work should be completed by November 2026. Councilmember Jim Snyder moved approval; Mayor Pro Tem Peter Padilla seconded. The motion passed 9–0.
