Bethania sets April 10 hearing on Queens Grant Road closure after residents voice conditional support

Mayor Brent Rockett said resident Dr. Neal Kon will be unable to attend the April 10 hearing and asked to meet with commissioners beforehand to discuss his concerns. During the public-comment portion of the March 13 meeting, Queens Grant Road resident Valerie Fleming voiced support for closing the end of the road. Niki Calhoun, whose property would be directly affected, also said she favored closure but asked that if Queens Grant Road is later used as a connector the Board vote to return it to Bethania’s Powell System; she also reported her homeowner’s insurance agent advised a “Private Road – No Turnaround” sign.
Mayor Rockett reminded attendees that, if the Board approves the resolution at the April 10 meeting, a survey will be conducted for Queens Grant Road. The March 13 minutes record support among the speakers present but do not show a final decision; the matter remains scheduled for hearing and subsequent Board action.
Next steps recorded in the minutes: commissioners will hold the public hearing on April 10 at 6:00 PM; Mayor Rockett said he will communicate with Commissioners about Dr. Kon’s availability after the resident returns from vacation.
