Superintendent Katie Anstead to join national association; urges community action on E‑Rate

In her final Perrysburg Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Katie Anstead reflected on her years with the district and announced she will join the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) as a senior vice president supporting rural superintendents.

Anstead used the remarks to highlight student achievements, staff professional development and community programs. She singled out student athletes, scholarship winners and community volunteers and thanked the district team for a year she described as both challenging and rewarding.

She also briefed the board on E‑Rate, the federal program that provides discounted rates for Internet and network infrastructure to schools and libraries. Anstead said the program supports not only instruction but multiple operational systems—security, HVAC controls, transportation routing and administrative functions—and that proposed changes at the Federal Communications Commission could increase local costs for connectivity and infrastructure.

“Connectivity powers nearly everything we do,” Anstead said, and asked the community to monitor proposed FCC changes and submit comments via a district guidance page the administration will publish. She said the district will provide a sample comment letter to make it easier for residents to express how reliable, affordable connectivity supports schools.

The board and community recognized Anstead with a formal resolution thanking her for years of service and wishing her well in her next role. The superintendent said she will continue to support Perrysburg during the transition and called for continued advocacy on federal proposals affecting schools.
