Portage County commissioners approve routine consent items, grant application and project acceptance

In other finance actions, the board approved July 16 budget amendments and a transfer from fund 1413 (WIA) to fund 1410 (Public Assistance). Commissioner (motions) also moved to declare one vehicle—a 2018 Ford Edge assigned to Portage County Job and Family Services—obsolete and to authorize its sale by public auction; that motion was approved.
The board authorized County staff to apply to the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services for the 2026 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) on behalf of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The motion did not include grant amounts or program details in the record.
The board agreed to amend resolution 25-0160 to adjust inmate food-service pricing per meal for fiscal year 2026–27 on behalf of the sheriff’s office; the amendment was moved and seconded and approved by roll call.
Finally, commissioners agreed to sign correspondence indicating Portage County Water Resources records show that Brimfield Commons project BR-221-090-P has been completed—sewer lines constructed, manholes adjusted and final restoration performed—and accepted the project subject to the standard one-year workmanship and materials guarantee.
The board recessed for a public comment period (no members of the public spoke) and later adjourned the meeting.
