Ocean Springs adopts 2024 International Residential Code

The Ocean Springs Board adopted the 2024 edition of the International Residential Code (IRC) after a brief presentation by Darrell from the building department.
Darrell told the board that the department is updating codes to stay in compliance with the building code authority and that he removed or adjusted some provisions he considered costly in order to limit expense to house builders. Councilmembers had no further questions and a motion to adopt the 2024 IRC passed on roll-call vote.
The building department said additional code updates will appear on future agendas and staff will continue to review provisions for local impact.
