Waukesha committee holds three rooming-house applications and postpones incomplete mobile food vendor permit

The Waukesha City Ordinance and Licensing Committee held three rooming-house applications for lack of required inspections and postponed action on a mobile food vendor permit because the application was incomplete; staff advised notifying the applicant and allowing reapplication for a future date.

After the hearing on the operator permit, the committee reviewed remaining applications on the agenda and took no final action on several items.
The chair said three rooming-house applications had not undergone the required inspections and would be held for a future meeting where inspections and review can occur. Separately, an applicant for a mobile food vendor permit — for an event on Saturday the 17th as submitted — did not submit all required documentation. City staff recommended holding the incomplete application, notifying the applicant what is missing and allowing the applicant to submit the remaining materials or seek an alternate date.
City attorney Brian noted that although a vendor might avoid needing a permit by operating on private property, other ordinance requirements would still apply and staff favored postponement rather than an immediate denial. The committee followed staff recommendations to hold the items for later review.
