Jennifer Pickens, introduced to the board as representing CVS, gave a departmental update on staffing, volunteer activities and property maintenance.
Pickens said CVS currently has three staff openings: two employees leaving for school or moving out of state and one opening at an hourly site that does not provide 24-hour services. She said the organization is hiring direct support professionals (DSP), also titled residential specialists, primarily for second shift (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) with some day and mid-shift openings; CVS provides all training on site and no prior experience is required.
“We are hiring for direct support professionals, DSP,” Pickens said, encouraging applicants to apply through the Bremer County website, city postings and Indeed; she noted the group also uses local outreach and will provide applications by phone or email on request.
Pickens described the organization’s community engagement (parade participation and volunteer opportunities), scheduled property tours for maintenance planning and active coordination with county HR for posting and recruitment assistance.
What happens next: CVS will continue recruitment, coordinate postings with county HR and provide application information to interested applicants via the county website and direct contact.
