Oxford honors two longtime employees with retirement resolutions

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen adopted retirement resolutions April 7 recognizing two long-serving city employees.
For Emtrade Park, the Board read and adopted a resolution honoring Douglas (Doug) Ewing for his service since 2009 as a maintenance supervisor and department builder at Emtrade/FNC Park. A staff member read the resolution noting Ewing’s work on turf installations, lighting, grounds and equipment. Doug Ewing (speaker 3) thanked colleagues, family and supervisors and offered lighthearted remarks about retiring: "I just wanna thank all my family and friends, my coworkers... It's been a great time," he said.
Separately, Rob Neely (speaker 8) introduced a resolution for Perry L. Rogers, who the resolution says has worked for the City of Oxford for over 28 years, including roles as wastewater treatment plant operator and lab superintendent. Perry Rogers (speaker 2) told the Board, "I love my job. I love science." Staff noted they must hire two employees to replace Rogers’ combined operational and superintendent duties. Both retirement resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The Board presented copies of the resolutions to the retirees. No financial awards or terms were discussed at the meeting.
