Commissioners praised the property's social history and recommended digging further into archival material. One commissioner said the house’s “charismatic social history” and links to local immigrant-era businesses made it an obvious candidate for further study. A motion to approve probable cause for 1132 Lafarge Avenue and to fund the HSA passed on roll call with unanimous support.
Next steps If the HSA confirms the property's significance, the commission may move forward with additional review steps toward formal landmarking or other preservation actions. The staff-recommended assessment funding is intended to support that research and documentation.
