Frontenac USD 249 board approves CD renewal, 2026–27 calendar and accepts large donations for Raider Ink

Board President Matt Frankenbery called the Frontenac Unified School District 249 Board of Education to order at 6:00 p.m. on March 9. In a series of routine and special motions, the board approved a financial renewal, the district calendar and accepted donations to support the district’s Raider Ink program.
Board Member Seth Nutt moved, and Board Member Sean Anderson seconded, to renew a certificate of deposit at a 3.56% rate from Labette Bank for one year; the motion passed 7-0. The same meeting approved the 2026–27 district calendar on a motion by Board Member Lindsay Smith, seconded by Board Member Jenna Stout; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board designated Van 33 (a 2014 Ford Econoline E-150) for sale on a motion by Board Member Stacy Ferraro, seconded by Board Member Seth Nutt; the vote was 7-0. The minutes note Van 31 (a 2008 Chevy Uplander) had previously been designated for sale.
On funding for school activities, Board Member Scott Kunshek moved, seconded by Board Member Lindsay Smith, to accept donations for Raider Ink of $8,603.19 from the Frontenac Education Foundation and $50,000 from an anonymous donor; the board approved the donations 7-0. The board then approved a quote from Advantage Trailer for a custom Raider Ink trailer at $57,332 on a motion by Board Member Jenna Stout, seconded by Board Member Sean Anderson; that motion passed 7-0. Minutes state that any donated funds beyond the trailer purchase price will be used to buy accessories for the trailer.
The actions were taken as part of the regular agenda; no further financial conditions or contingencies were listed in the minutes. The board adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
