The Gas City Council on Oct. 14 carried a series of routine motions by unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council approved an amended agenda after noting Item 1 in New Business had been removed due to scheduling conflicts (Harry Holloway moved; Rick Morrison seconded; motion carried 4-0). It then approved the consent agenda, which included approval of bills, Sept. 9 minutes and the treasurer's reports for September and the third quarter (Harry Holloway moved; Rick Morrison seconded; motion carried 4-0).
The council accepted the resignation of Zane Whitney (Rick Morrison moved; George Grisier seconded; motion carried 4-0). A request from Thrive Allen County for a donation to the SEK Recovery Resources Program was denied (George Grisier moved; Maranda Spillman seconded; motion carried 4-0). The council also approved a one-day (8-hour) floating holiday in December as a 2025 Christmas bonus for city employees (George Grisier moved; Maranda Spillman seconded; motion carried 4-0).
At 7:05 p.m. the council recessed into a 10-minute executive session to discuss non-elected personnel under K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(1); City Attorney Ross Albertini left the meeting during the recess. The meeting resumed at 7:15 p.m. and the council adjourned (Rick Morrison moved to adjourn; Maranda Spillman seconded; motion carried 4-0).
