Update: Revitalization & Resiliency Plan underway for downtown Jenkins

A consultant (S7) updated the council on May 4 about the Revitalization & Resiliency Plan funded in response to the 2021–22 floods. The project is in task one and is reviewing existing plans and data to inform downtown revitalization, flood mitigation, economic development, housing, walkability and connectivity.
S7 said the team held a kickoff meeting on April 2 and is compiling a map that will overlay land use, floodplain, infrastructure (water/sewer/roads/sidewalks), critical facilities and economic indicators. "Our next step is to collect, compile a map," S7 said, and a draft map is expected at the next council meeting.
S7 noted several relevant prior plans from the Kentucky River Area Development district and other local studies and said some of the projects identified have already received funding. Council members thanked the presenter and said the work will help track and coordinate previously planned projects.
