Mayor Kenneth Baker called the City of Gas council to order at 6:00 p.m. on April 8, 2025. The council approved routine business and several staff requests and passed a contract for a new city website.
The council first approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Council Member Harry Holloway, seconded by George Grisier; the minutes record the motion as carried 4-0. The consent agenda — including approval of bills, March 11 minutes, the March 2025 treasurer’s report and the first-quarter 2025 treasurer’s report — was approved on a motion by Holloway and seconded by Grisier, also recorded as carried 4-0.
Clerk Rhonda Hill told the council the office computer is three years old and will lose Windows 10 support on Oct. 14, 2025; members asked staff to solicit bids and bring recommendations to the May meeting. City Superintendent Brad Kress presented several mower options and the council asked him to narrow the list and return a recommendation in May.
On website services, Hill presented three bids for a new city website and hosting. Council Member Maranda Spillman moved to approve Municipal Impact as the city website creator and host; Harry Holloway seconded and the motion was recorded as carried 4-0.
The council also discussed hiring an additional maintenance employee; the minutes state the council would determine the type of position at a later date.
A separate agenda item noted at 118 N. Wall Street a boat was moved away from a water meter before March 13 and therefore did not require towing; the minutes say Mr. Cloud has pled not guilty in the city's case and that the matter is set for trial in May.
Votes at a glance — recorded outcomes in the minutes: approval of the agenda (motion carried 4-0); approval of the consent agenda (motion carried 4-0); approval of Municipal Impact for website creation and hosting (motion carried 4-0); motion to adjourn (motion carried 4-0).
The meeting included routine department reports from Superintendent Brad Kress on maintenance activity and a zoning and audit update from Clerk Hill. The council adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
