Russell Springs council adopts resolution to use leftover Mount Eden pump station funds for water equipment

The Russell Springs City Council on March 12 adopted Resolution 2026‑05 to authorize the use of remaining funds from the Mount Eden pump station project for purchases of water‑system equipment.
Council staff reported the pump station is complete and that about $58,000 remained in the project pot. The resolution (read aloud at the meeting) authorizes the mayor, utility supervisor and city clerk/treasurer to use excess funds to purchase items deemed necessary for operation and maintenance of the municipal water system. Section 2 of the resolution lists potential purchases "including but not limited to" a portable flow meter, portable hydrant and valve exerciser, and Badger model 25 water meters.
The resolution directs purchases to comply with city procurement policies and applicable Kentucky law. A motion to adopt the resolution was made, seconded and carried by roll call.
The council did not appropriate additional general‑fund dollars at the meeting; the resolution reallocates existing project funds to specified equipment under procurement rules.
