EDC meeting lacks quorum; chair and a board member announce departures, prospective member introduced

The June 15 meeting of the Warren County Economic Development Commission was called to order at 4:04 p.m. by Chair Claude O’Hagan but did not have a quorum, so the board could not set the agenda or approve prior minutes.
Because of the lack of quorum the meeting shifted to introductions and public comment. Prospective board member Howard Leonard described his interest in joining the board, saying he lives in Warren County, is retired from Merk, previously worked for Glen Raven, operates a small business, works part time at Mill Hill Brewery and volunteers with the Hawtree Volunteer Fire Department.
During board comments, Dr. Rachel Desmarais, president of Vance‑Granville Community College, gave a brief update on the VGCC Transportation Hub at Triangle North Warren. Chair O’Hagan announced June 15 would be his last meeting after nine years of service; board member Jim Whitley said he also would be leaving the board to pursue other interests.
With no other business, the meeting was adjourned. Because no quorum was present, the EDC did not take formal actions on agenda items.
