Warren County EDC director briefs board on Foreign Trade Zone 93, marketing overhaul and site work

At the June 15 meeting of the Warren County Economic Development Commission, Community and Economic Development Director McKinley Perkinson summarized several office initiatives, including an update on Foreign Trade Zone 93 and a marketing refresh.
Perkinson said the office is working with Capital B Company to update the department logo and marketing templates and that staff will be removing the Jobs Board section from the county website. She said the office will partner with Matthew’s Creek Production and the Town of Norlina to film a video showing the process of building the new Tractor Supply store.
Perkinson handed out a Warren County Economic Development Overview packet that includes demographic information, employment and wage trends, and a cost‑of‑living index for board review. She also reported that the first report on the Golden LEAF Foundation site is complete and that staff are seeking a professional facilitator to lead a fall strategic‑planning retreat.
Because the board did not have a quorum, the EDC did not take formal votes on any of these items. Perkinson said she has begun outreach to North Carolina Commerce to initiate the strategic‑plan process and will return with more information as it becomes available.
