Frontenac school board accepts assistant football coach's resignation, terminates supplemental duties for staffer in 4–3 vote

At 7:16 a.m. the board moved into executive session to discuss nominations and separations of non‑elected personnel pursuant to the non‑elected personnel exception under KOMA. The board returned to open session at 7:31 a.m., then voted to extend the executive session for an additional 15 minutes before returning to open session at 7:46 a.m.
After the executive sessions the board accepted the resignation of Tyronne Armstrong from the position of Assistant high school football coach. The motion to accept the resignation was made by Jenna Stout, seconded by Scott Kunshek, and passed 7–0.
The board then moved to terminate Leon Miller from all supplemental assignments effective immediately. That motion, made by Scott Kunshek and seconded by Jenna Stout, passed by a 4–3 vote; the record lists Sean Anderson, Stacy Ferraro and Seth Nutt as voting against the motion, with Matt Frankenbery, Lindsay Smith, Jenna Stout and Scott Kunshek recorded as the four votes in favor.
Separately, the board approved a payout for Leon Miller related to his 2026–27 teaching contract. The motion to payout Miller was made by Seth Nutt, seconded by Lindsay Smith, and passed 7–0.
Superintendent Howard Smith and District Coordinator Brandy Stanley were present for the executive sessions. Business Manager/Clerk Julie Underwood and HS Principal Bill Sullivan were also in attendance; guests listed in the minutes included John Palumbo, Stephen Hipfl, Brady Hill and Lacy Anderson.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 7:49 a.m., made by Sean Anderson and seconded by Jenna Stout; that motion passed 7–0.
