Eudora Planning Commission appoints 2026 leadership, holds orientation

The Eudora Planning Commission on Feb. 4 appointed Grant Martin as chair and Josh Harger as vice chair for the 2026 calendar year and completed a work-session orientation on commission procedures.

Both appointments passed unanimously. Commissioner Pat Jankowski moved to appoint Grant Martin as chair; Commissioner Aaron Thakker seconded and the motion carried with an official tally of Approved: 4, Denied: 0, Abstained: 0. Commissioner Jankowski also moved to appoint Josh Harger as vice chair; Commissioner Lewis Cox seconded and that motion likewise passed 4–0.

City Planner Kyle Kobe, City Manager Zack Daniel and City Clerk Kelly Delay led a work session that ran from about 7:06 p.m. to 8:32 p.m. The presenters reviewed subdivision and zoning regulations, the separate roles of the Planning Commission, City Commission and staff, meeting process and procedures, the Kansas Open Meetings Act, the Golden Factors and voting practices, and the possibility of adopting Planning Commission bylaws. The orientation was presented as procedural training rather than a policy debate.

The commission also approved the consent agenda after Commissioner Pat Jankowski requested and received a clarification edit to Item X of the Dec. 4, 2025 minutes. Vice Chair Harger moved the consent-item approval; Commissioner Aaron Thakker seconded; the motion carried 4–0.

There were no public comments at the meeting. The commission adjourned at 8:35 p.m.

Next procedural steps noted at the meeting included potential formal consideration of Planning Commission bylaws at a future session and staff follow-up on the items introduced during the orientation.
