Student council competition and FCCLA travel approved by Ellsworth USD 327 board
Summary
The board approved a Student Council "Class of the Year" competition that awards the winning class a day off in May and authorized FCCLA student travel to Anaheim, Calif. (with Kansas City as an alternate), with FCCLA covering expenses.
Student activities received board approval at the Aug. 12, 2024 meeting of the Ellsworth-Kanopolis-Geneseo USD 327 Board of Education.
Student council representatives — Elyse Haxton, Jessa Schultz, Riley Rodriguez and Allie Thomasson — presented a "Class of the Year" (COTY) competition for the 2024–25 school year. The board approved the proposal and authorized a day off of school in May as the reward for the winning class; the motion passed 6-0.
The board also approved out-of-state travel for FCCLA students Breckyn Rush and Kelli Rodriguez to Anaheim, California in October. The board approved Kansas City, Missouri as an alternate trip if students are not accepted to the Anaheim event. The board recorded that all expenses for FCCLA travel will be paid by the FCCLA organization; motion passed 6-0.
Mr. Svaty moved to approve the COTY request; Mr. Rush seconded. Mrs. Bohl moved to approve FCCLA travel; Mr. Svaty seconded. Both motions passed unanimously.
