Astoria amends sign code, removes proposed bed-and-breakfast change

At its April 20 meeting the Astoria City Council amended and adopted ordinance 26-04, which updates sign regulations in the Astoria Development Code. Ahead of the second reading, Councilor Davis moved to remove proposed changes to the bed-and-breakfast definition; Councilor Adams seconded and the amendment passed by roll call vote.
After the amendment, the council conducted a second reading of the amended ordinance and adopted the code changes by unanimous roll call. Community Development Director John Roberts said the package contained several "housekeeping" items intended to clarify transient-lodging definitions and make the sign code easier to administer, and staff recommended removing the bed-and-breakfast language for separate review.
The amendment and adoption were handled as a single agenda sequence; councilors recorded their votes on the record during the meeting.
