Edgerton officials say downtown Greenspace and park projects are on schedule

City staff provided a series of project updates at the Aug. 8 council meeting, reporting steady progress on the downtown Greenspace and multiple park projects.
Assistant to the City Administrator Kara Banks said the city’s social media and website traffic rose around the July 3 fireworks and community picnic. Henderson Building Solutions’ Scott Crain reviewed recent construction photos and interior work at The Greenspace, saying the building is ‘‘really taking shape’’ with tile, paint and ceiling grid being installed and more site work to finish. Crain said the storm shelter is being built to standards intended to keep the shelter standing even if surrounding building components are damaged, and that substantial completion remains set for February.
Parks and Recreation Director Levi Meyer said a new slide at Martin Creek Park was installed successfully. Public Works Director Dan Merkh updated council on Glendell improvements—the skate park, paving under playground and fitness areas, and a gazebo are complete; additional sidewalks and signage are scheduled for the coming week and contractual completion remains on target for the end of October. Councilmember Ron Conus and staff discussed that the park closes at sunset under updated rules and that fencing had not been part of the project scope.
City Administrator Beth Linn noted a pending Unified Development Code amendment on driveway rules will go to the Planning Commission; she also showed council the new home sites at Dwyer Farms that are now listed for sale.
