Edgerton council awards $60,961.62 pavement‑striping contract for 2024 street preservation

The Edgerton City Council on Aug. 8 approved awarding the pavement marking and striping base bid for the 2024 Street Preservation Program to C‑Hawkk Construction, Inc. for $60,961.62. The vote was 4‑0.
Public Works Director Dan Merkh told the council the work will refresh markings at three intersections in the LPCK area—199th & Homestead, 191st & Homestead, and 191st & Waverly Road—where pavement markings have worn away. He said funding for the striping work comes from the Special Highway Fund and the PIF Maintenance Fee, and that the broader 2024 preservation project, including curb work, totals roughly $148,000.
"Staff anticipates this project beginning in August of this year and be completed by October/November of this year," Merkh said, summarizing the anticipated schedule and the city engineer’s recommendation to award the contract to C‑Hawkk as the most qualified bidder.
Councilmember Josh Lewis moved to approve the award; Councilmember Ron Conus seconded. The motion passed, 4‑0 (Councilmembers Clay Longanecker, Josh Lewis, Deb Lebakken and Ron Conus voting yes; Bill Malloy absent).
The contract covers only pavement marking and striping work; Merkh told council that additional phases of the 2024 Street Preservation Project, including curb work, will be presented to council at a later meeting with separate cost details and procurement actions.
Council did not add conditions to the award. The city’s timeline for construction and contractor coordination will be managed by the Public Works Department.
