Tolland Cultural Council approves March minutes, confirms performers and logistics for summer events

The Tolland Cultural Council approved the minutes of its March 5, 2026, meeting and discussed planning details for several upcoming events at its May 7 meeting at Tolland Town Hall.

Chair Lise LeTellier said the March minutes were signed by all in attendance and reported a storage issue for the PSC printer, noting it "couldn’t be left out in the room" because the area was crowded and suggesting the printer be kept in a pull-out cabinet for accessibility. The council recorded attendance as Lise LeTellier, Paula Sharon, Kristine Seney and Secretary Mary-Beth Ballard.

The council discussed signage and concluded it will continue borrowing a sandwich board from the Council on Aging rather than purchase a new sign now; LeTellier said the Select Board has been previously queried about a new sign and the COA is willing to lend one.

On the September community event, LeTellier said there was no new update but that Tom Grunwald, lead for Acoustic Bandwidth, has the sound system and will bring and operate it for performers; the TCC will support the event by providing musical performers. Paula Sharon reported that Addy from the Fire Department confirmed the department owns a green tent the council may use; Addy will add the reservation to the FD calendar and arrange for the department to put the tent up.

The council confirmed plans for a Comedy Night on May 16. Bonnie and Suzanne are leading that event; all council members except LeTellier expected to attend. Secretary Mary-Beth Ballard will coordinate food, and the council plans to place a donation container at the event.

Members discussed publicity for upcoming events. LeTellier asked Paula Sharon to help with publicity and social media and to explore placing notices in the Granville Country Caller, Southwoods and Pennysaver. Paula will print updated signs (a library sign was reported faded) using her color printer; LeTellier will send materials by email for Paula to use.

For the June outdoor event at Tolland Church, LeTellier said she had arranged for a porta-potty delivery on June 14; she will forward cost details to Kristine Seney so the council can determine how much the TCC should contribute for two outside events.

In open forum the treasurer reported no new updates but the council added signatures and dates to paperwork for a felting event left at Town Hall. LeTellier urged recruiting additional members and suggested sharing Chair responsibilities; Paula Sharon said she will probably step down in September, and LeTellier will draft a recruitment flyer for review.

The council set its next meeting for July 9 at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:36 p.m. The minutes were submitted by Secretary Mary-Beth Ballard.
