The Ellsworth USD 327 Board of Education held two executive sessions May 12 under the non-elected personnel exception of the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA) and returned to open session to take several personnel and administrative actions.
The board first entered executive session at 8:34 p.m. and returned at 8:55 p.m. After resuming open session the board approved hiring Rachel Priest as EJSHS Biology teacher; Jennifer Shoaf as Custodian; Kyra Sillmon as KMS Administrative Assistant; Betty Romero as Substitute; and Kelsi Zamrzla as EJSHS Assistant Junior High Volleyball coach. The board also approved transfers (Stacy Batchman from EES Kindergarten to KMS Grade 4; Elizabeth Wolf from KMS Administrative Assistant to District Office Accounts Payable/Payroll Clerk), created a part-time nurse assistant position, and allowed classified employees to use sick leave rather than personal leave for inclement weather days. The motion passed on a 7-0 vote.
The board earlier approved Resolution 25-16 to add Elizabeth Wolf to district bank accounts and remove Terrah Martin upon her last day. The board also approved appointments naming Elizabeth Wolf and Kim Whetzel as Deputy Clerk and Elizabeth Wolf as Treasurer; those administrative appointments passed 7-0.
Minutes record the motions, approvals and vote tallies but do not include the personnel discussion details from the executive session (the board properly cited KOMA). The board adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
These items change district staffing and administrative authorizations; implementation steps such as onboarding, payroll updates and bank signature changes will be handled by the district office.
