Newport-Mesa introduces two principals and a facilities director

Cindy Pedroso was welcomed as the new principal of TeWinkle Middle School. District administrators noted her more than 25 years in education and recent work transforming a site into an early learning program; Pedroso said she is "honored to continue this journey in Newport Mesa." Dr. Kevin Astor was introduced as the new principal at Newport Harbor High School. He described early conversations with staff and community partners and said he is excited to join the "Sailor family." "I can't be more excited than to take over at a school with such a vibrant and rich culture," he said.
Dr. Sean Bolton was introduced as director of facilities, athletics and performing arts operations. Bolton traced his career at the district back to a teaching role and thanked the board for the opportunity to continue serving students in this operational leadership position.
The introductions were ceremonial and informational; there were no formal votes tied to the personnel introductions during the meeting.
