The commission approved two separate tax-relief items during the meeting.
Staff presented a homeowner tax-credit/abatement matter for Karen Witt, explaining state code allows the county portion up to $1,412 or 50% of property taxes, whichever is less, after staff noted her late change in household income following the death of her husband. Commissioner Perry moved to honor the requested abatement for parcel 03-223-0034 and Commissioner Bingham seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Later, resident Tiffany Raymond requested forgiveness of penalties and interest on parcel 03-051-0110, a small triangular parcel in front of her driveway created by an earlier lot split. Treasurer staff said the current total owed was $61.85, of which $26 was penalties and interest; commissioners moved to forgive the penalties and fees and approved the request.
Both items were approved with motions and voice votes; staff noted follow-up work to combine parcels and to record the abatement actions as needed.
