The commission approved two related fire-service items after presentations from fire staff.
Fire staff introduced Ordinance 661, a program previously used to offset costs for wildland-urban interface sprinkler suppression systems; the ordinance as presented would expand eligibility for some sprinkler grants beyond WUI areas as budget permits. Commissioner Perry moved to approve the ordinance and the commission passed it by voice vote.
Separately, staff presented Agreement 26-33 to assume fire protection services and accept transfer of assets from Thatcher Penrose, noting the Thatcher group had been overseen by a water department and could not be funded there. Staff said the county will provide training, equipment and oversight. Commissioners moved and approved Agreement 26-33.
Both items passed by voice vote; staff will handle the transition of services and any necessary transfers of equipment and training.
