Residents urge council to pause Frontline Farming lease decision and pursue mediation

Dozens of Arvada residents and Frontline Farming staff used the city’s public comment period on July 21 to press the council to pause any final action on a lease renewal for Frontline Farming at Majestic View and to convene mediation between the farm and the park’s host organization.

Juan Ramon Quezada asked the council to "not finalize this decision yet" and to "shed more light on the process through mediation and public‑friendly transparency," saying neighbors across the political spectrum support keeping Frontline Farming in place. Sarah Kreider told council the farm donated 11,000 pounds of produce in 2025 and described the organization’s sliding‑scale model, community gatherings and role increasing representation for people of color.

Diego Manuel Rodriguez, who identified himself as a Frontline Farming employee, said the farm leads the state in safe working conditions, employs social workers to support workers and runs youth programs. Rodriguez said the farm was surprised by the city’s move to remove it, described tense interactions when the group requested justification from staff, and asked council to reconsider and work with the farm.

Multiple speakers framed their appeals around broader council priorities—homelessness, local economy and quality of life—saying Frontline Farming’s activities support those goals. Several speakers asked the council to consider mediation as a way to resolve disputes and preserve both the farm and the nature‑center host.

Council did not take immediate formal action on the lease during the meeting; the public comment items were recorded and council proceeded to the consent and hearing agenda.
