Board approves Snow White storefront repainting and small sign change to include 'Denison'

The Denison Historic Preservation Board on July 21 approved exterior painting and a signage adjustment for Snow White Dry Cleaners at 312–316 Westwood (case 2026025).
Dowell, a city preservation staff member, presented the request and noted the applicant asked to repaint the building front white to match the sides and to retain existing signage. Staff indicated the proposed paint and trim colors were acceptable within the guidelines.
Owner Laura Rios told the board she purchased Snow White in 2022 and wants to freshen the storefront so it does not appear abandoned. She said the business’s LLC name includes "Denison" and she asked to add the town name on a small portion of the sign so insurance paperwork will correctly reference the building. "I became the owner of Snow White in 2022 … so my goal is to make it look better," Rios said.
Board members and an architect in the room offered minor aesthetic suggestions about trim and awning edges; staff confirmed the proposed colors are acceptable. A motion to approve the certificate of appropriateness for 312–316 Westwood was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Next steps: the applicant may proceed with painting and the small signage change as presented.
