Metcalfe County Board recognizes students, staff and outgoing members at December meeting

At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Metcalfe County Board of Education recognized students and employees and publicly thanked three outgoing board members.
Superintendent Josh Hurt recognized Student of the Month Jorga Newlin (not present), MCES first-grade student Taylor Fields, Classified Employee of the Month Jay White (MCES paraeducator) and the Certified Employee of the Month (MC E kindergarten teacher). He also congratulated Claire Shapiro for receiving a full four‑year scholarship to Boston College through QuestBridge.
Hurt thanked outgoing members John Caffee, Robin McMurtrey and Tim Brown "for their service to Metcalfe County Schools," noting they were part of one of the longest-consecutive serving groups of board members in the state. Chairman John Caffee closed the meeting with personal remarks: "Thank you to everyone for all that you have done for this school district and our students. I love Metcalfe County. I appreciate every one of you from the bottom of my heart."
