Board approves change orders that return about $63,000 to athletic-complex budget

The Metcalfe County Board of Education voted Dec. 10 to approve change orders for the district athletic complex that produce an estimated credit of about $63,000 to the construction budget.
Matt Shirley, who presented the facilities update, said the credit results from removing a previously allowed $89,000 for decorative fencing while adding a roughly $26,000 concrete pad under the bleachers. Shirley reported that more than half of the new football field has turf installed, goalpost footers are being poured and lights for the football field and tennis courts are in place.
Wes Jolly moved to approve the change orders identified as 020-04 / 040-01 / 150-02; Tim Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously, with all five board members voting yes.
Shirley said an update meeting with all contractors was scheduled later in the week to coordinate remaining work. The board did not add additional funding for decorative features and approved the change orders as presented.
