The Metcalfe County Board of Education on Dec. 10 accepted a clean, unmodified FY2024 audit and approved the district's December 2024 financial report.
Cheyenne Garmon, the district finance official, told the board that auditor Joe Montgomery issued a "clean, unmodified opinion with no questionable costs," and that the district's change in net position was $4.2 million. Garmon said the general fund increased by about $109,000 to end the year with $4.7 million.
The board reviewed detailed warrants and vendor payments for November, including construction and bond payments. The minutes list a 11/20/2024 bond payment of $684,333.08 and a 11/26/2024 bond payment of $568,315.67 among the higher expenditures. Receipts discussed included state SEEK funds and other state reimbursements.
Wes Jolly moved to approve the December 2024 Financial Report; Tim Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously, with all five members voting yes: John Caffee, Robin McMurtrey, Daniel Glass, Wes Jolly and Tim Brown. Robin McMurtrey moved to approve the FY2024 audit as presented; Wes Jolly seconded and that motion also passed 5-0.
The auditor's report noted the district will remain classified as a high-risk auditee for one additional year for a prior Davis‑Bacon wage-determination issue that the district reported has been remedied. The board took no separate action beyond acceptance of the audit and approval of the financial report.
The board's next meeting was set for Jan. 16, 2025.
