Metcalfe County schools celebrate students and staff, outline spring events and tests

School leaders used the April 14 meeting to spotlight student and staff achievements and to outline spring events and assessments across the district.
The board recognized Kennady Dubre as MCMS Student of the Month; Jared Rhinehart was named Classified Employee of the Month and Kelly Crawhorn was named Certified Employee of the Month. Superintendent Josh Hurt and building leaders highlighted upcoming observances and events: School Bus Driver Appreciation Day (April 22), an AP/Dual Credit breakfast for advanced students on April 24, and Teacher Appreciation Week in early May.
Elementary principal Michael Gill reviewed i-Ready testing windows and family engagement activities such as Pastries with Parents and Presentation of Learning nights. Middle school leaders described student-led Presentations of Learning, community volunteer support, and arts programming including the Little Mermaid production. High school announcements included prom details, student awards (a state SkillsUSA champion and Claire Shapiro's Hershey grant to support Helping Hornets), and KSA testing dates May 6-9.
District staff said they will send summer-feeding registration information before the next board meeting and noted that the Metcalfe County Education Foundation is accepting donations to support student programs.
