The Glide School District 12 Board of Directors read a written annual evaluation of Superintendent Robert Freeman on Feb. 19, concluding that Freeman was "effective" across multiple professional standards and noting his leadership on policy updates and a new district strategic plan. The presiding board member read the board's findings aloud and thanked Freeman for his work.
The board's evaluation said Freeman's performance was effective in ethics and professional norms, culturally responsive leadership, communication and community relationships, organizational and financial management, policy and governance, advocacy and visionary district leadership. "The Board of Directors determined that Superintendent Freeman's performance was effective in the standards," the presiding board member read during the meeting.
Board Member Quimby praised Freeman's impact on the district, saying the superintendent "has done a really good job" and has made the board's work easier over the past six to eight months. Board Member Holland said community feedback emphasized Freeman's presence at school events and a visible cultural shift over the last year, and expressed support for using the district's strategic plan as the basis for future evaluations.
Superintendent Freeman did not speak at length about the evaluation in the public portion of the meeting but thanked board members and staff for their remarks. The board said it will work with Freeman to align future evaluations with the district strategic plan and continue collaboration on district goals.
The meeting's discussion was limited to the board's evaluation and compliments from members; the board did not take separate personnel action related to the evaluation during the session. The board then continued with other agenda business, including routine motions and reports.
