Students report on activities and district recognizes ESPY winners at Glide meeting

Students and staff used the board meeting to showcase recent student activity and school celebrations. "I'm Noah Eichenbusch and I'm here to do the high school and middle school report today," the student presenter said, summarizing student behavior initiatives, a roller-skating reward for roughly 90 qualifying students and a school canned food drive that was still ongoing.

Eichenbusch also noted high school FFA work — including hosting the Oregon FFA state officer team and district competition successes that qualified students for state-level events — and named students who placed in a recent Willie Wilkinson Memorial wrestling tournament. A board member praised the drama performance and the students’ work on stage and in the music program.

Laura Kaim introduced elementary highlights: a 6th-grade campus visit tied to a women’s basketball game, a December 9–12 holiday shop intended to allow students to buy gifts at affordable prices (explicitly described as not a fundraiser), a well-attended community tree-lighting on December 12, class decorating contests and partnerships with Helping Hands and Live Fire Academy to support families during the holidays. The staff member reading ESPY awards announced winners for grades K–12 and invited recipients to pick up commemorative t-shirts after the presentations.

Board members and staff repeatedly praised staff leadership, student engagement and community turnout at athletics and the arts. The meeting recorded no public comments during the public participation portion.
