During the meeting the superintendent told trustees the district would pause first readings of a subset of policy changes tied to recent Title IX revisions while it waits for additional guidance from the Oregon School Boards Association and the courts. He identified specific policy codes on the agenda that would be held and said the action was prompted by a recent ruling in Kentucky that raised questions about the proposed changes.
"We are pulling the 1st reading of several policies ... because the nation is now waiting to see what that ruling is gonna do," the superintendent said. The board agreed to hold those items and accepted first reading of the other policies recommended by OSBA.
Board members confirmed that the paused items would return once the legal picture and association guidance were clarified. No substantive policy changes were adopted at the meeting for the Title IX–linked items; the district will monitor OSBA updates and any court rulings and bring revised policy language back for consideration.
