Superintendent Freeman said the district and association favored starting school after Labor Day this coming year and recommended a single‑year adoption rather than a two‑year cycle to make adjustments based on the past two years’ lessons. Freeman said the district will publish a simplified student calendar that shows when students are in session and separate work calendars that display employee workdays for 10‑month and 11‑month staff.
Board members discussed minor timing questions (for example, verifying the third full week in March for spring break) and agreed to double‑check dates with state guidance. After brief discussion, a motion to adopt the 2025–26 district calendar passed.
The board also asked staff to produce calendars tailored for different audiences (students, various employee groups) so families and staff have clear, easily understood schedules. The district will post the finalized calendars and make paper copies available for those who need them.
