The Glide School Board spent part of its meeting recognizing classified staff and presenting student awards. Superintendent Freeman said the district has more than 60 classified employees and the board displayed an on-screen loop listing staff names, titles and years of service.
Janet presented the March SB awards, calling winners by grade from senior to kindergarten and inviting each to receive a certificate and a T-shirt. Board members praised student leadership and extracurricular participation; several athletic achievements were singled out in the superintendent's report.
During his report, the superintendent and a board member discussed a new ODOT-backed "highway-to-high-school" program that will create a paid position for a recent graduate to work with a highway crew, receive mentorship and be put through CDL training; the district will publicize the job announcement and encouraged graduates to apply. The board described it as an important workforce pathway for local students.
Board members repeatedly thanked classified staff for their day-to-day work and volunteers for community fundraising that supported student activities. The meeting closed with routine reports and adjournment.
