Local preschool wins exterior-improvement grant to finish renovations

"We've done a ton of work to the inside, and so now it's time to finish up the outside," Ruby said.
Board members questioned whether the quotes were competitive and asked how the exterior work fit with previous grant-funded interior work. Directors noted a lower bid on concrete and a separate lower bid for signage; one director asked for confirmation about which contractor had the lowest bid. Ruby said grant funding had covered much of the interior and that the requested funds would allow the exterior to be completed quickly.
A board member moved to approve the exterior grant; members voted by voice and the motion carried. The board cited a total figure of about $47,662 for the award. The agency's approval covers the exterior construction work described in Ruby's application, with the understanding the project must remain on its stated timeline and comply with any permit and inspection requirements.
