The Trinity County Board of Supervisors on July 21 adopted a proclamation recognizing Probation Services Week, commending local probation staff for their role in supervision and rehabilitation.
Ruby Fierro, chief probation officer, told the board probation “often happens behind the scenes,” and cited work she said prevents overdoses, reduces DUI incidents and helps stabilize families by connecting people to treatment and services. “We create a safer community, stronger families, and support individuals on pathways toward lasting change,” Fierro said.
The proclamation, read aloud by the chair pro tem, notes training expectations for probation officers and frames probation as combining accountability with rehabilitative programming. After brief remarks from board members thanking probation staff for community efforts — including volunteer assistance at Hayfork Cemetery — the board moved and approved the proclamation on a roll-call vote.
The board recorded 'Aye' votes from Supervisors Goguen, Cox and Lutweiler and Vice Chair Brownfield. The proclamation will serve as the county's formal acknowledgement of the week and recognition for probation staff.
