St. Charles City Council approves temporary liquor license for Riverlands Brewing for Aug. 9 ADA event

The St. Charles City Council on July 20 approved a Class E-1 temporary liquor license for Riverlands Brewing to serve alcohol at an American Diabetes Association event scheduled for Aug. 9, 2026, on Park District property.

The police chief told the council the event will be held in a separate service area where Riverlands Brewing will serve alcohol and attendees will wear wristbands. "This is the 2nd year that this event will be held there," the police chief said, adding that Riverlands appeared earlier before the Liquor Control Commission and the police department will have personnel on site throughout the day.

Councilman David Petrella moved the license approval and JB Munz seconded. The council called the roll and the motion passed unanimously among members present; one member, Petlich, was noted as not present at the meeting.

The license approved is a Class E-1 temporary liquor license for the single-day event. The police chief said the setup will separate the licensed area from the rest of the park property and that wristbands will be used to verify who may be served.

The meeting record shows the Riverlands proposal had previously advanced through the Liquor Control Commission earlier the same day, and the council did not receive public comment on the agenda item. The council moved and approved the consent agenda and then addressed the police department request before adjourning the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned following routine business; the council scheduled a previously removed agenda item for its August 3 meeting at the request of Fire Chief Jeremy Mouthey.
