The Board wards program selects one student per grade at each school based on grades, attendance and positive behavior. Speaker 2, who introduced the program, said the monetary awards correspond to grade level and are paid to students when they graduate and move on to college, the workforce or the military.
Speaker 2 read the list of recipients across grade levels, naming students including kindergarten recipients Harper Roark and Easton Waters; first graders Cara King and Andy Heath; second graders Kenton Waters and Corbin Dobbs; third graders Keegan Henry and Alexandria Patrick; fourth graders Lila Gardner and Lincoln Court; fifth graders Kendall Dixon and Camden Murphy; sixth grader Kimberly Baer; seventh grader Tatum Watson; eighth grader Ricky Perriman; ninth grader Cassidy Garland; tenth grader Ashton Guy; and 12th grader Abigail Musgrove, who was not present because of a college orientation.
The Board did not discuss changes to eligibility criteria at the meeting. After the recognition the agenda moved on to financial reports and a capital-project funding request.
