Diane Collins urges Warren County to form solar, wind work group and promotes Crandall Library talk

Diane Collins, a member of North Country Earth Action Group from Glens Falls, urged the Warren County Environmental Concerns and Real Property Tax Services Committee to form a solar and wind energy work group to help towns modernize and expand local solar projects.
"Our purpose and yes and yes, passion is to bring new information that sparks your interest in modernizing your towns with more solar attention and projects," Collins said, and she proposed that volunteers work with Warren County planner Matthew Smith and New York State advisers to support local projects.
Collins promoted a public talk by Bill McGibbon at the Crandall Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 15, saying registration is required and free and encouraging committee members and the public to sign up on the library calendar. "Choosing to go may be 1 of the most important choices you can make for your town and for the environment," she said.
She also flagged battery energy storage safety as a timely concern and said she left two documents about battery safety with Amanda Allen, the board clerk, for committee review. "Battery energy storage systems are important for renewable energy. Good planning, technology, and regulations make them safe," Collins said.
The committee did not take action on Collins's request at the July 22 meeting; the chair noted the comment and moved the agenda forward to scheduled action items.
