Board hears HR and finance updates; approves student transfers and staff hires

Superintendent Aldridge and cabinet members briefed the board on readiness for the 2026–27 school year. HR director Wilsey Hamilton said new-employee orientation had attracted strong participation and reported no bus-driver vacancies for the start of the year. Hamilton cautioned that staffing numbers are fluid because reports are prepared days in advance.
CFO Ramona Barrett told trustees that fiscal year 2026 is closed and the district is operating across two fiscal years while auditors complete work; she said the state is operating under a continuing resolution and the district is currently receiving prior-year allocations until the legislature adopts a new budget. Barrett said the state and legislature expected further action in August and she would keep the board informed of changes.
On motions recorded after executive session, the board approved the acceptance of one student transfer into the district and six transfers out by unanimous consent. The board also approved three professional-staff employment recommendations for 2026–27 by unanimous consent.
Trustees also discussed transportation technology; members encouraged families to adopt the MyRide K12 app, which the board discussed making mandatory for bus riders because it can provide live bus locations and optional safety features that require additional investment.
The meeting adjourned after the board approved the personnel and transfer items and the motion to adjourn.
