Residents accuse Logan County Schools of uneven complaint handling, call for probe into coaching suspensions

Rhonda Farley, who addressed the board during public comment, said the district has treated complaints unevenly and alleged a middle-school employee fraudulently used a WBSSAC coaching courtesy card. "Every complaint should be treated with equal seriousness," Farley said, and she told the board she has recorded conversations and documentary records she believes show inconsistent treatment and delays in investigations.
Mary Mango Mango, another public commenter, urged the board to call an executive session to address what she called the "wrongful suspension" of the Chattenville Regional High School softball coaching staff. Mango said the coaches were being "slandered" and could not defend themselves, and she asked the board to carry constituents' concerns to the state board if the county board did not act.
A board member responded to public criticism by saying, "Misrepresenting facts, whether intentional or through neglect, only adds to the erosion of trust," underscoring tensions between commenters and some board members during the meeting.
Superintendent Pat Joe White did not announce a formal investigative outcome during the meeting. White later told the board that several records have been in district possession since October and that he would work through established processes; he also announced a special personnel hearing set for April 7 specifically for roof and transfer personnel matters, and the board recessed the March 24 meeting to reconvene on April 21 to finalize the audit and continue business.
The meeting produced no formal vote on any complaint or personnel discipline matter; commenters said they will continue to press for review and transparency. The district’s treasurer and central office hold the relevant records and were identified as contacts for follow-up inquiries.
