Edwardsville City Council voted unanimously to accept Westland Construction’s rebid of $52,850 to restore erosion, riprap and grading at 131 South 110th Street.
Staff described the site’s erosion and drainage problems and said prior work followed the original design but left some homeowner concerns. Staff explained the rebid removes certain driveway grading from the scope while retaining riprap and drainage improvements intended to reduce downstream erosion near Riverview and adjacent church property.
"This project will include some improvements in that area," a staff member said, and added the city would like Westland Construction to begin before spring, noting winter work offers advantages for certain types of grading and riprap removal. The staff timeline estimate said work was hoped to be completed or begun between now and March 1.
A council member moved to proceed with the restoration and accept the Westland Construction bid. The clerk recorded affirmative votes from Adcox, Mullen, Bishop, Milat and Shriver; the motion carried.
The contract award authorizes staff to begin work with the selected contractor; staff said any remaining negotiations on scope (for example, driveway grading) would be handled separately.
