Millbury adopts emergency cybersecurity policy and authorizes contract with Perry ProTech

The Millbury Village Council adopted Ordinance No. 812 on an emergency basis June 8 to implement a cybersecurity policy in compliance with Ohio Revised Code 9.64 and authorized the mayor and/or clerk to enter a contract with Perry ProTech for cybersecurity services.

On a motion by Councilman Sanders, the council voted to pass Ord. 812 as an emergency; the council then voted to suspend the rules and give the ordinance its second and third readings by title only before placing the ordinance on passage. Each motion was approved by roll call as recorded "all yea."

The council next considered Resolution 578, which authorizes the mayor and/or clerk/treasurer to execute a contract with Perry ProTech to provide cybersecurity services for the village. The resolution passed on a motion by Mangus, seconded by Abbey, with roll call recorded as all yea. The contract text and procurement details were not read into the record at the meeting; the resolution authorizes execution of a contract subject to review and completion of formal documentation.

Council members also briefly discussed e-bikes and agreed that e-bike owners must follow Ohio law; Councilman Sanders said he would prepare a social-media post to inform residents. The council did not provide additional details about the scope, cost or timeline for Perry ProTech’s engagement during the meeting.
